"The Johnsons" will be the featured exhibition of about 20 paintings by Erika Pochybova Johnson and James W Johnson at the Charles Adams Gallery in September. The artists, who are married and living in Lubbock, will be exhibiting new work from this year.

Erika, who recently completed 2 large painting commissions for UMC, will be showing a variety of themes including a large abstraction titled "Forget Me Not". In her new abstract series, Erika begins with an action painting technique, similar to Jackson Pollock, then she establishes more 'order' with a careful, detailed application of paint to these chaotic structures. Erika Pochybova Johnson At The Target Gallery

Erika Pochybova Johnson (www.ebova.com) is one of selected artists to participate in the juried exhibition at the Torpedo Factory Art Center (http://www.torpedofactory.org/index.html) just outside of Washington, D.C.; Old Town Alexandria, VA.

This is an all media juried exhibition examining the current crises (collapse of world wide financial systems, the mortgage crisis, failing health systems) facing our country and the world, and the plight of the people who most suffer from these failures. The juror is Sarah Tanguy, an independent curator, arts writer, and critic, as well as a curator for the Art in Embassies Program, based in Washington, DC. The exhibition "System Failure" will be located in the Target Gallery (national exhibition space), from August 21 through September 26. The opening reception will be held September 9.

Erika Pochybova Johnson will be participating in Wally Workman Gallery's 30th Anniversary Show which opens August 7th in Austin, Texas.

The Wally Workman Gallery (in Austin, TX) is turning 30! Opening Reception Saturday, August 7th 6-8pm Starting in only two small rooms within a 100 year old historic home on West Sixth Street, the gallery has gradually expanded to occupy the whole house. Workman garners an impressive roster of 50 artists who work in diverse mediums and subject matter. Always evolving, this includes artists that have been with the gallery for decades as well as those that were just signed this year. The anniversary show will include works by all their artists; old and new, figurative and abstract, small and large, and everything in between.
